Improve Weighbridge Accuracy & Traffic Flow with Visual Signal Control

Product in Use

MB10

Φ100mm Multi Colour Signal Beacon

Issue:

At palm oil collection points, weighbridge operations often face inefficiencies and risks due to unclear communication between the system and lorry drivers:

  • Drivers may not stop at the correct position, causing inaccurate weight readings
  • Lack of clear guidance leads to repeated adjustments, slowing down operations
  • Operators rely on manual signaling or verbal instructions, increasing human error
  • Poor visibility in noisy outdoor environments makes communication difficult
  • Without clear status indication, drivers may move too early or too late, affecting workflow
  • High traffic volume results in congestion and delays at the weighbridge

These issues reduce operational efficiency and can lead to incorrect weight measurements and longer processing time.

Solution:

Install the PATLITE MB10 multi-color beacon at key positions of the weighbridge to provide clear, real-time visual and audible guidance to drivers:

🚦 Entry Control (Front Beacon)

  • Amber (steady): Weighing in progress – driver must remain stationary
  • Red (flashing + buzzer): Position error – driver adjusts vehicle position
  • Green (steady + buzzer): Measurement complete – safe to proceed

🚦 Exit Control (Second Beacon)

  • Guides driver after unloading with clear status:
    Amber → Measuring
    Green → Completed

🔧 Key Benefits

  • Ensures accurate vehicle positioning on the weighbridge
  • Reduces dependency on manual instructions
  • Improves driver awareness with high-visibility signals
  • Enhances safety with audible buzzer alerts in noisy environments
  • Speeds up traffic flow and minimizes congestion

Summary

At a palm oil collection center, a lorry loaded with palm oil fruits enters the weighbridge for initial measurement. A front-mounted PATLITE MB10 beacon, positioned at driver eye level, provides clear visual guidance throughout the process.

When the lorry stops on the weighbridge, the beacon displays steady amber, indicating that weighing is in progress. If the vehicle is not properly aligned, the beacon switches to flashing red with a buzzer, alerting the driver to adjust position. Once the lorry is correctly positioned and measurement is completed, the beacon turns green with a buzzer, signaling that the driver can safely proceed.

After unloading the palm oil, the lorry returns for final weighing. A second beacon installed at the exit ensures continued guidance, displaying amber during measurement and green upon completion.

This simple yet effective visual signaling system improves accuracy, efficiency, and safety in weighbridge operations, enabling smooth traffic flow and reducing reliance on manual communication.
